What makes L-Style Flights special?

L-Style Flights are among the most popular moulded dart flights in the world. Unlike conventional folding flights, they keep their open 90° angle permanently. This means the wings do not need to be unfolded and realigned before every game, helping to provide consistent flight characteristics.

The different L-Style series vary in material thickness, flexibility, weight, surface structure and mounting system. L-Style therefore offers lightweight and flexible flights as well as especially rigid and durable models.

In addition to conventional flights fitted onto a separate shaft, the range also includes modern flight-and-shaft systems. With Bar Flights, the flight and shaft are permanently joined together. The L-System, by contrast, consists of specially developed flights and shafts that can be connected and separated again with the matching tool.

The different L-Style Flight series

L-Style Pro Flights

L-Style Pro Flights are among the best-known flight series produced by the Japanese manufacturer. They are made from durable plastic and retain their permanently open 90° flight angle.

Pro Flights are used with a separate Champagne Ring. The ring is inserted into the designated opening at the rear of the flight before the flight is fitted onto a compatible L-Style shaft.

The Champagne Ring system helps secure the connection between flight and shaft while also closing the open end of the shaft. This reduces the risk of Robin Hoods and can help protect the shaft.

L-Style EZ Flights

L-Style EZ Flights are designed for particularly easy installation. The required Champagne Ring is already integrated into the flight and does not need to be inserted separately.

The flight can be fitted directly onto a compatible L-Style shaft. There are no loose rings to lose, making flight changes quick and convenient. EZ Flights are therefore suitable for beginners as well as experienced players who prefer a simple and practical setup.

L-Style Kami Flights

L-Style Kami Flights feature a special material structure that allows certain areas of the flight to flex more easily.

When an incoming dart hits the flight, the material can give way more readily. This may reduce deflections during tight groupings while the flight still retains its basic shape and permanently open angle.

Kami Flights are particularly suitable for players who prefer a softer and more flexible flight.

L-Style Dimple Flights

L-Style Dimple Flights have a textured surface with small indentations. This structure gives them a noticeably different look and feel compared with smooth L-Style Flights.

The dimpled surface changes the way air flows around the flight and may influence the flight characteristics of the dart. Whether this surface suits your throw is best determined by comparing it directly with a smooth flight.

L-Style Fantom Flights

L-Style Fantom Flights are among the most rigid and durable flights in the L-Style range. Their crystal-clear appearance creates a premium and distinctive look.

Weighing approximately one gram, Fantom Flights are among the heavier and stiffer L-Style models. They are ideal for players who prefer the direct feel of a rigid flight or want to create a visually striking dart setup.

Fantom Flights use the convenient EZ design. The required ring is already integrated and does not need to be fitted separately.

L-Style Bar Flights

With L-Style Bar Flights, the flight and shaft are permanently joined together. This creates an integrated flight-and-shaft system that can be screwed directly into the barrel.

There is no need to assemble a separate flight, shaft and Champagne Ring. The one-piece design maintains a permanently open 90° angle and provides a consistent setup.

Bar Flights are particularly suitable for players who prefer a simple system with fewer individual components. If the flight or shaft becomes damaged or worn, the complete unit must be replaced.

L-Style L-System

The L-Style L-System is a modern, modular flight-and-shaft system. Specially developed L-System Flights and L-System Shafts are connected to create a stable unit during play.

Using the matching L-System Tool, the flight and shaft can be separated again. This allows damaged or worn components to be replaced individually. Different L-System Flights and L-System Shafts can also be combined with one another.

It is important to note that only products from the L-Style L-System are compatible with one another. Conventional L-Style Pro Flights, EZ Flights, Kami Flights, standard L-Shafts and components from other flight-and-shaft systems cannot be combined with the L-System.

The L-System is ideal for players who want a secure and quickly assembled setup while still being able to replace or combine the flight and shaft separately.

L-Style Flight shapes from L1 to L9

L-Style Flights are available in a variety of shapes. The flight shape affects air resistance, speed and the stability of the dart. Not every flight series is available in every shape.

  • L1 Standard: Large surface area for high stability and a smooth flight.
  • L2 Teardrop: Compact, rounded shape with reduced air resistance.
  • L3 Shape: Popular all-round shape offering a balanced combination of stability and speed.
  • L4 Kite: Tapered shape for a controlled and slightly faster flight.
  • L5 Rocket: Compact shape for a more direct trajectory.
  • L6 Slim: Very narrow flight shape with low air resistance.
  • L7 Bullet: Small surface area for a fast and direct flight.
  • L8 Astra: Alternative compact shape for players who prefer less flight surface.
  • L9 Super Kite: Combination of a compact surface and good stabilisation.

Larger flight shapes generally stabilise the dart more strongly but also create more air resistance. Smaller and narrower shapes often produce a faster flight but may react more sensitively to the individual throwing style.

Pro Flight or EZ Flight?

The main difference between a Pro Flight and an EZ Flight is the Champagne Ring.

  • Pro Flight: The Champagne Ring is inserted separately into the flight.
  • EZ Flight: The ring is permanently integrated into the flight.

Pro Flights offer more options when combining different ring colours. A Champagne Ring can also be reused when the flight is replaced.

EZ Flights are especially easy to install. There are no loose rings and the flight can be fitted directly onto the shaft.

Which L-Style Flight suits my throwing style?

The best flight depends on more than just its shape. Material, weight, shaft length, barrel design and grip position can all influence the way a dart flies.

  • For greater stability: Choose a larger shape such as L1 Standard or L3 Shape.
  • For a faster trajectory: Try a compact shape such as Slim, Rocket or Bullet.
  • For a flexible material: Try Kami Flights.
  • For a rigid and durable flight: Choose Fantom Flights.
  • For easy installation: Choose EZ Flights, Bar Flights or the L-System.
  • For maximum setup flexibility: Use Pro Flights with separate Champagne Rings or the modular L-System.

Even a small change in flight shape or shaft length can noticeably alter the behaviour of the dart. It is therefore worth testing different combinations.

Champagne Rings for L-Style Flights

Champagne Rings are required for L-Style Pro Flights. They sit in the designated opening at the rear of the flight and create a secure connection with the shaft.

The Champagne Ring also closes the open end of the shaft. This helps prevent an incoming dart point from entering the shaft directly, reducing the risk of Robin Hoods and potentially extending the life of the setup.

With L-Style EZ Flights and Fantom Flights, the required ring is already integrated. Bar Flights and the L-System do not require separate Champagne Rings.

L-Style Flights for soft-tip and steel-tip darts

L-Style Flights can be used for both soft-tip darts and steel-tip darts. The important factor is not the type of dartboard, but whether the flight, shaft and barrel are compatible.

Conventional L-Style Flights are fitted onto a compatible shaft. Bar Flights and connected L-System components are screwed directly into a barrel with a suitable thread.

Classic flights, Bar Flights or L-System?

Classic L-Style Flights provide a high level of customisation. Flight shape, design, shaft length and colour can be selected independently. If one component becomes damaged, only that part needs to be replaced.

With Bar Flights, the flight and shaft are permanently joined together. This makes installation especially easy, but the entire unit must be replaced if either component becomes worn or damaged.

The L-System also creates a connected flight-and-shaft unit, but it is modular. Using the matching tool, the flight and shaft can be separated, replaced individually and combined with other L-System components.

Only L-System Flights and L-System Shafts can be combined with one another. Classic L-Style Flights and standard L-Shafts are not compatible with the L-System.
