Scott Mitchell - Scotty Dog

Scott Mitchell is an English professional darts player best known for his success in the British Darts Organisation (BDO). He was born on 5 June 1970 and comes from Bransgore in Dorset, England. His nickname is “Scotty Dog”.

Mitchell’s greatest career achievement came in 2015, when he won the BDO World Darts Championship at the Lakeside Country Club. In a dramatic final, he defeated Martin Adams 7–6 to claim his first and only world title. As a result of this victory, he also reached number one in the BDO world rankings.

Before becoming world champion, Mitchell had already established himself as a consistent and successful player. He won numerous BDO and WDF tournaments and was a regular presence in the later stages of major international events. He was particularly known for his calm approach and steady scoring under pressure.

Following the decline of the BDO, Mitchell moved to the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). He earned a tour card via the Challenge Tour and competed on the professional circuit for several seasons. Although he did not achieve the same level of success as in the BDO, he appeared in major tournaments such as the UK Open and the Grand Slam of Darts. After a few years, he eventually lost his tour card.

Outside competitive darts, Mitchell has an unusual role in television. For many years, he has worked as a darts double for the British soap opera “EastEnders”, throwing the darts in pub scenes while remaining off camera.

Overall, Scott Mitchell is regarded as a respected and down-to-earth figure in the sport, particularly remembered as one of the key players of the BDO era and as the 2015 world champion.
