Cosmo Fit Shafts – Locked, Spinning, Carbon, Titanium & more
The Cosmo Fit Shafts are a key part of the modular Cosmo Fit System and allow players to fine-tune their dart setup in great detail. In addition to Locked and Spinning versions, there are different materials such as plastic, carbon, Super Duralumin and titanium, as well as different shapes and lengths.
From the classic and affordable plastic version to premium carbon or metal shafts, weight, length and playing feel can be adjusted to suit individual preferences. The shafts can be combined with Cosmo Fit Flight, Cosmo Fit Flight Air or Cosmo Fit Flight Pro.
Cosmo Fit Shafts – the matching shaft system for Cosmo Fit Flights
The Cosmo Fit Shafts are designed specifically for the Cosmo Fit Flight System. The flights are pushed directly onto the shaft, so conventional flight rings or additional fastening accessories are not required.
One of the major advantages of the system is the wide range of available versions. In addition to different lengths, players can choose between Locked and Spinning as well as different materials and shaft shapes. This makes it possible to adjust weight, overall length, stability and flight movement very precisely.
Which Cosmo Fit Shaft materials are available?
Cosmo Fit Shafts are available in different materials. These do not only differ in price and durability, but also in weight and therefore in the balance of the complete dart.
Cosmo Fit Shaft GEAR – the classic plastic shaft
The Cosmo Fit Shaft GEAR is the classic plastic version within the system. It is relatively lightweight and affordable and is available in a wide range of lengths, colors and versions.
This makes the Fit Shaft GEAR particularly suitable for players who want to experiment with different setups or simply prefer a lightweight shaft for regular use. For many players, the plastic version is an ideal introduction to the Cosmo Fit System.
Cosmo Fit Shaft Carbon – lightweight and premium
The Cosmo Fit Shaft Carbon combines low weight with a high-quality and stable construction. Carbon is particularly interesting for players who prefer a lightweight shaft but want a more premium alternative to the classic plastic version.
This makes it possible to create a very light setup while still benefiting from the advantages of the Cosmo Fit System. Especially in combination with Fit Flight Air, extremely lightweight rear sections can be achieved.
Cosmo Fit Shaft Super Duralumin – metal with extra rear weight
The Cosmo Fit Shaft Super Duralumin is made from a lightweight metal and therefore provides a different feel compared with plastic or carbon. The additional weight at the rear of the dart can noticeably change the overall balance.
Super Duralumin is particularly suitable for players who prefer a metal shaft and deliberately want to add more weight behind the barrel without immediately choosing the heaviest option.
Cosmo Fit Shaft Titanium – premium metal with higher weight
The Cosmo Fit Shaft Titanium is aimed at players who want a premium metal shaft and deliberately prefer more weight in the rear section of the dart.
The additional weight can noticeably affect the balance of the complete dart. Titanium is therefore not only a premium material choice, but can also be used specifically to change the weight distribution of the setup.
How does the shaft material affect the weight?
Shaft weight is an important part of the overall dart balance. A very light shaft adds little weight behind the barrel, while heavier metal shafts shift more of the overall weight towards the rear of the dart.
As a general guide, the Cosmo shaft materials can be classified as follows:
Plastic / GEAR: lightweight and affordable
Carbon: lightweight, premium and stable
Super Duralumin: metal shaft with additional rear weight
Titanium: premium and generally heavier metal option
The actual weight also depends on the selected shaft length, shape and version. For this reason, the material should not be considered in isolation. The complete combination of barrel, shaft and flight determines the final balance and feel of the dart.
Normal, Slim or Hybrid – Cosmo shaft shapes explained
In addition to material and length, Cosmo Fit Shafts are also available in different shapes. Depending on the series, these include Normal, Slim and Hybrid. The shaft shape can affect not only weight, but also the transition between barrel, shaft and flight.
Normal – the classic shaft shape
The Normal shape features a more traditional and slightly fuller profile and offers a balanced combination of stability and weight. It is suitable for players who prefer a classic shaft geometry.
Slim – narrow and lightweight
The Slim shape has a narrower construction and is especially suitable for players who prefer a more streamlined shaft and a lightweight setup. Depending on material and length, this can further reduce weight at the rear of the dart.
Hybrid – combining different shaft characteristics
The Hybrid shape combines characteristics of different shaft geometries and offers another way to tailor the setup to the player’s personal throwing style. It is particularly interesting for players looking for a balance between a classic and a slimmer shaft profile.
Locked or Spinning – which Cosmo Fit Shaft is right for you?
In addition to material, shape and length, the choice between Locked and Spinning is one of the most important differences within the Cosmo Fit System.
With the Cosmo Fit Shaft Locked, the flight sits very firmly on the shaft and largely keeps its alignment. However, the connection is not completely rigid. If the flight is hit from the side by a following dart or flight, it can give slightly and move out of the way.
With the Cosmo Fit Shaft Spinning, the flight can rotate much more freely around the shaft. If another dart makes contact with a flight already in the board, the flight can rotate further and move aside more easily.
Locked is therefore particularly suitable for players who prefer a firmer flight position, while Spinning offers significantly more movement and rotation.
Choosing the right Cosmo Fit Shaft length
Shaft length also has a noticeable effect on the complete dart setup. A shorter shaft positions the flight closer to the barrel, while a longer shaft extends the rear section of the dart.
The ideal length depends heavily on the barrel, the selected flight shape and the individual throwing style. Cosmo therefore offers a wide range of shaft lengths so players can test different combinations and gradually optimize their setup.
Combining material, shape and length
One of the biggest strengths of the Cosmo Fit Shaft System is the wide variety of possible combinations. For example, a player can use a lightweight carbon shaft in a slim shape or deliberately add more rear weight by choosing a metal shaft.
Material, shaft shape, length and Locked or Spinning should therefore not be considered separately. It is the combination of all these components that determines how the complete dart setup feels and performs.
Which Cosmo Flight fits the shafts?
Cosmo Fit Shafts can be combined with the different versions of the Cosmo Fit Flight System. This means the overall characteristics of the setup can also be adjusted through the selected flight.
The classic Cosmo Fit Flight offers a balanced combination of weight, flexibility and shape stability.
The Cosmo Fit Flight Air is particularly lightweight and flexible and is ideal for players who want to reduce weight at the rear of the dart.
The Cosmo Fit Flight Pro, on the other hand, focuses on high shape stability and a particularly consistent flight geometry.
Cosmo Fit Shafts for steel tip and soft tip darts
The Cosmo Fit System is suitable for both steel tip and soft tip darts. Thanks to the different materials and weight options, the balance can be adjusted very individually for lightweight soft tip darts as well as heavier steel tip setups.
From lightweight plastic or carbon combinations to setups using Super Duralumin or titanium, there are numerous ways to tailor the behavior and balance of the dart to personal preference.
